Quick help for Flexcrypt
2010(Not online products)
Flexcrypt requires:
- Windows -XP, -Vista or -7 (32 or 64 bit versions)
- Administrative rights to the computer
- For automatic email encryption, user must use local email program
such as Thunderbird or MS Outlook (not webmail).
- File- and Text encryption/decryption does not require the usage
of a local email client
Before contacting Support for Email encryption issues, please try the
following troubleshooting steps:
- Run Windows Update
- Install .net framework, 2.0 or later (free from Microsoft)
- Reinstall Flexcrypt without uninstalling it first. Reinstall, choose
option 'Repair'
- Reboot
- Turn off 'TLS/SSL', a setting under Server connections in your email
client. (This option turns off encryption between your computer and
your email server - it is unnecessary since email is encrypted all
the way to the receiver).
- In Vista, choose 'Run as administrator' when launching Flexcrypt
from the desktop shortcut
- Turn off antivirus and firewalls and test Flexcrypt. If this works,
please let us know what application caused the problem by emailing:
support [at] flexcrypt.com
- IMPORTANT: Turn on all anti-virus and firewall after completion
of (7)
- AVG users, ensure that values for POP3 and SMTP are same in Flexcrypt
as in AVG. Open AVG control center and go to Tools -> Advanced settings
-> E-Mail Scanner -> Servers. Check values for POP3 and SMTP and place
the same values in Flexcrypt. By default these values are SMTP 10025,
POP3 10110
- Zonealarm users, Go to Pad-lock menu (top left), select General
settings. Choose Firewall -> Zonealarm
We welcome suggestions regarding new features and improvements.
